DPSC conducts Disaster Preparedness Seminar
You are warned. Be prepared!
As a sign of support to the national disaster consciousness month campaign of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Daop-Palad Student Council (DPSC) conducted a seminar on disaster preparedness at St. Bridget College, College Department, Multi-Purpose Hall, July 22.
With the theme “Kahandaan at Pagtugon sa Sakuna, Tungkulin ng Bawat Isa,” Mr. Rodrigo Dela Roca, RSW, Head of City Risk Reduction Management Office, guest speaker, stressed the importance of being prepared during disaster.
“We are members of our own family. As the smallest unit in the society, every family should be responsible in ensuring that all members are safe. Because when every family is prepared, the risk of losing too many lives would be lessened,” said Mr. Dela Roca.
According to him, disasters and calamities are still major problems in acquiring a safe and resilient community in our country because we are experiencing several natural and man-made environmental disturbances.
Moreover, he enumerated the safety measures to be done before, during and after if the disaster occurs. He also elaborated the disasters and calamities which usually hit our country explained the do’s and don’ts towards the occurence of those disasters and calamities.
“Our lives are still at risk. However, being alert and prepared are just some of the many simple ways on how we can prevent numerous loss and great damages. Always remember, our safety lies on our own hands. So now that you are warned, you should be prepared and save your life,” he concluded.
The seminar ended with an open forum.
