CDRRMO observes emergency drill
At 8:50 a.m., a short ringing of the bell, followed by a long one was heard all over the campus, October 12. After the last sound of the bell, Bridgetines hurriedly flocked to the Julian Pastor’s Field, the designated evacuation area for the elementary and high school pupils.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) together with representatives from Department of Education (DepED), Public Information Office (PIO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) scrutinized the emergency drill conducted.
During the conference, Mr. Rodrigo Dela Roca, head of the CDRMMO, said it was the most organized drill that was conducted among schools. However, he pointed out the following areas to be improved: reporting system, coordination with local units, the role of communication with local units, the role of communication officer, provision of bulletin board for reports and procurement of spine board, first aid kit for rescuers, spleen and brace neck. EARTHQUAKE DRILL TURNS INTO REAL
The conference was not yet over when the evacuation committee and the visiting team were alarmed by a group of junior high school students going down in haste. There was an earthquake. The emergency evacuation committee once again moved to do their respective assignments. Everybody was able to evacuate the building. A few had minor injuries while others experienced motion sickness.
According to reports, the intensity of the earthquake was 4.5 in Abra de Ilog, Mindoro and 5.2 in Tingloy, Batangas City.
