Armored with pen and paper, Sibul, the official campus publication of St. Bridget College, College Department held its annual journalism seminar-workshop at 102 SJE Building  last August 23.

With the aim to continuously hone skills of Sibul journalists on news and feature writing, Jerick Ramos, the guest speaker, highlighted the importance of strong will and determination for the success of the publication.

The training highlighted guidelines and tips regarding how news and feature articles should be written which will bring effectivity and interest to the readers. “It is not a necessity that you are born, and you came strong. What’s necessary is you never stopped learning and giving your best until from being underdog, you were able to give life to your publication and fight for what you believe is the truth”, Ramos stated.

According to Ramos, it is important to connect the written piece of the writer to the intended readers of the articles. For feature writing, he pointed out that it arises from non-sensible things and that what makes it interesting is the impact given to the readers by the emotions packed by the writer in his article. Meanwhile, he also emphasized that news articles must be strong, powerful, factual and straight to the point at the same time.
