With a strong will and enthusiasm to be informed about the climate crisis, Bridgetines participated in the 3rd BATANGecological Summit on Climate Crisis held at Provincial Auditorium, Batangas, Batangas City, August 3.
The theme of the event was “3rd BATANGEcological Summit on Climate Crisis: Leading the Journey towards Decarbonization.”
“We should care and protect our mother earth for it is our life. Let us acknowledge the essence of nature for human survival. It is within our hands to save our environment from continuous and disastrous destruction.”
Archbishop Ramon C. Arguelles, challenged the participants during the celebration of the Holy Mass.
Meanwhile, Regina Paz Lopez, secretary of DENR, inspired everyone to continue doing good acts for the sake of the environment. She also stressed the goals of her department in promoting a healthy environment not only in the region but nationwide. She ensured the support of the department expectedly.
Moreover, resource speakers had presentations of their priorities, concerns and shared various information concerning climate crisis. Mr. Erwin M. Buenviaje, discussed about Piglas Batangas for Verde Island Passage; Mr. Roberto Suntay, highlighted the SEA Institute Presentation: Verde Island Passage; Bro. Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR, emphasized the Climate Change and Laudato Si and Atty. Karen Jimeno, conducted the Reading and Signing of Piglas Batangas Manifesto.
In addition, Mr. Rodne R. Galicha, discussed climate crisis and solution; Mr. Renato Redentor Constantino, shared climate financing; Mr. Ben Muni, underscored energy and mitigation; Atty. Wildred Ramon Penalosa, shared Local Climate Change Adaptation and Best Practices and Mr. Jose Sixto Dantes had creative climate activism respectively.
League of Individuals for Environment (LIFE) members together with all leader shepherds represented the college department in the summit.
