Filled with gratitude to God for all the blessings received throughout the year, the Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) gave back through its annual outreach activities.
DECEMBER 15 – Around 80 children coming from SBC’s adopted communities of Libjo, Malitam and Brgy. 1 and 2, felt the spirit of Christmas as Student Council Office (SCO) and Bridgetine Integrated Student Association (BISA) officers together with class and club officers organized a Christmas party for them.
In her message to the children, Mrs. Rossana Bagon, IBED principal, emphasized that there is Christmas because of Jesus. The children were also entertained by song and dance numbers of Bridgetines. Jollibee mascot also brought fun as it danced and mingled with the children. After the program, cheers coming from the children playing different parlor games filled the atmosphere. Snacks were also served to the children prior to the distribution of goods.
As the students were bringing joy to the children, the faculty also brought Christmas cheers to the 100 members of the Basic Ecclesial Community, another adopted community of SBC. Prior to gift giving, an advent recollection facilitated by Bro. Ronnie Gool and parlor games facilitated by the teachers took place.
In the afternoon, the outreach activity for 150 special women of the Gabayan Program commenced through a Holy Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Gerard Macalinao. The faculty prepared a simple program, games and snacks for them. Goods were also given to the attendees.
DECEMBER 20 – Spreading the Christmas spirit to a wider community, the faculty reached out to 60 patients in the Batangas Medical Center, 75 women inmates in the Batangas City Jail and 150 inmates in the provincial jail. In the city jail, a prayer service that reminds the love of God to each of His creation was conducted. Some inmates were in tears during the prayer service. A Holy Mass was celebrated in the provincial jail. Goods were given to the inmates and patients.
Through the generosity of the students and their parents, IBED employees and the administration, the outreach activities for this school year were materialized.
