Family Day 2018 highlights talents of pupils and parents, strengthens family bond
Five hundred eighty-four family members and pre-elementary pupils discovered the joy of togetherness during the pre-elem family day, November 17.
Dressed in their chosen career costumes, pre-kinder and kinder pupils and their family members attended the Holy Mass in the Basilica of Immaculate Concepcion. Rev. Fr. Aurelio Dimaaapi, mass presider, highlighted the significance of family day and showed appreciation to the effort of the school to give time for families to be together.
This was followed by a program which highlighted the talents of the pupils and the parents as well. Dressed in their school uniform, “Give Thanks” was interpreted by select pre-elem pupils as opening prayer. Amidst their eager parents, pre-elem pupils in their chosen career costume sashayed from the back of the auditorium to the stage. The children’s career costume varied as they became young nun, priests, beauty queen, bank manager, doctors, nurses, law enforcers, soldiers, engineers, architects, pilot, flight stewardess, scientist, astronaut, firefighters, chefs and teachers. One-hundred seventy-seven pupils expressed their gratitude to their parents through the song “Journey”. Songs expressing their hopes and dreams were likewise rendered by each section. Pre-elem pupils also wowed their audience with recent dance hits such as “Bam”.
A lively dance number coming from the parents brought memories of their younger years. The singing families were also applauded by the audience with their interpretations of their own chosen songs.
Blue, yellow, green and red colors competed in varied games. Green had a head start as their team placed 1st in the flag raising. Ping-Pong challenge was won by red team. Yellow team landed first in the “tied-up relay” while the Blue team won the “fish relay” challenge. All tied with 10 points each, the last game, the hula-hoop relay became the deciding game. With only few seconds ahead with red team, the yellow team came up triumphant and was declared champion of Family Day 2018.
Rosary tokens were given to each family believing that a family that prays together, stays together.
In the welcome message of Mrs. Rossana Bagon, IBED principal, she stressed that the family plays an important role in the growth of the children. She said that family day can strengthen family bond and conducting one is the way of the school to help the children.
