SBC Cares for the Students, Lay Mission Partners and Alumni in Times of Typhoon
Within three weeks, three typhoons and super typhoon namely Typhoon Quinta, Super Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility which greatly affected wide part of the country including Batangas. There were Barangays covered by floods, roads, bridges and infrastructures were destroyed, agricultural and cropland were damaged, power lines were downed and there were recorded casualties.
As per assessment, there were students, lay mission partners and even alumni who were greatly affected by the typhoons. St. Bridget’s Community Center, Inc. (SBCCI), which is the outreach arm of St. Bridget College, together with the Good Shepherd Sisters, Batangas Community and St. Bridget College, initiated a relief effort.
From November 16 to November 19, 2020 they served 111 students, alumni and lay mission partners within Batangas Province through relief distribution.
- 23 IBED students,18 SHS students, 7 College students, 43 Alumni, 6 lay mission partners and 6 needy families in Tierra Verde received cleaning and disinfection materials
- 1 College student, 2 IBED faculty, 3 retired faculty/ resigned staff, 1 college alumnus, 2 faculty/ maintenance and 5 staff/maintenance received cash assistance amounting Php 1,500.00 to Php 5,000.00.
Despite their current situation, some parents of the students who received donation gave way and shared to others who are much in need. They also expressed their thankfulness for the effort and care they received from the institution.
