Welcome to St. Bridget College and thank you for choosing this school as the second home of your child.
 
St. Bridget College, Batangas City values each person and respects his/her privacy. It recognizes the rights of individuals as per Republic Act 10173 or also known as Data Privacy Act of 2012. This data privacy policy and privacy notice aims to inform the public that SBC, as a data controller, is committed to cooperate with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) with regard to the implementation of the Data Privacy Act (DPA). The school abides with the privacy principles of Transparency, Proportionality and Legitimate Purpose in the process of the data collected.
The Information We Collect

SBC collects information through different ways such as interview, survey, written forms, use of photography and video imaging and through biometric records.

Personal Data
This refers to all types of information processed by the school from the data subjects such as, personal information, sensitive personal information and privileged information.
 
During application to SBC and during the student’s stay in this school, we collect personal data.
 
For Student and Scholar Applicant, personal data  includes name, nickname, address (permanent and current), date of birth, country of birth, country of  citizenship,  gender,  contact information (e.g. telephone number, mobile number and email address), last school attended, senior high  school  track,  application  fee  information, proof  of citizenship, religious philosophical political affiliations, previous academic standing (Form  137),  personal  declaration/s pertaining to physical/behavioral/disciplinary conditions, and grade level applying for. Upon successful admission and enrollment, the school collects personal data with regards to academic performance and activities.
 
For Student’ Parents/Legal Guardian, these include name, address, contact information (e.g. telephone number, mobile number and email address), government issued IDs that are classified as sensitive personal information.
 
For Parents/Legal Guardian of Scholar Applicant, personal data is thesame as that of the parents/legal guardian, plus other information like proof of financial standing that includes utilities billing statements, bank or credit card statements, and similar proofs of financial standing. Although financial data is considered confidential and not under the data privacy act, such documents often contain personal data in the form of personal information that can be used to identify or cause harm to the data subject.
The Process or Use of Personal Data
To the maximum extent required by law, St. Bridget College may use personal data in the performance of its functions as an educational institution
 
The personal data collected about the student/ scholar applicant is used and processed in the following manner:
  • Verification process for taking the admissions examination
  • Determining the admissions and enrollment status of the applicant
  • Protection of the health and vital interest of the applicant/student thru medical or health evaluation
  • Processing the application for scholarship grants or other forms of financial assistance
  • Confirmation of acceptance for incoming students or scholar applicants
  • Preparation processes for ceremonial activities such as orientation events of the various programs and schools
  • Gathering and maintaining records of the student’s attendance and student’s work such as homeworks, seat work, examinations, research works and performance tasks
  • Exchanging information with regards to behavioral and academic performance between and among faculty members and administrators for the purpose of academic deliberations.
  • Probing into reports of misbehavior and to disciplinary sanctions if necessary
  • Announcing and publishing academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, including honors lists and names of awardees in school bulletin boards, websites, social media sites and publications
  • Sharing academic achievements with the previous school of the student
  • Use in religious practices as initiated and supported by the school
  • Use in emergency situations to protect the vital and medical interest of the applicant/student
  • Communicating official school announcement
  • Live streaming of school’s events
  • Marketing and school promotion purposes, including promotion of its activities and events through photos, videos, brochures, website posting, social media sites, bulletin boards, radio and other forms of media.
  • Compliance for the requirements of DEPED, CHED , TESDA
  • Compliance for the requirements of work immersions, On-the-Job Trainings, Practicum, Field Study and other outside school activities
  • Compiling information for directories and alumni records
 
The personal data collected about the parents/legal guardian is used and processed in the following manner:
  • Use in emergency situations to protect the vital and medical interest of the applicant/student
  • Use to communicate behavioral and academic performance of their child
  • Use to communicate school’s official announcements or reminders
 
The personal data collected about the parents/legal guardian of scholar applicant is used and processed in the following manner:
  • All processes of a parent/ legal guardian.
  • Used in conjunction with financial related documents to determine the qualification to the scholarship program.
Transfer and Disclose of Personal Data
Students:
 
To the maximum extent required by law, St. Bridget College may transfer or disclose personal data in the performance of its functions as an educational institution.
 
The personal data collected about the students may be shared, transferred or disclosed with the different units within the institution for the previously stated purposes.
  • Registrar’s Office for admission and enrolment purposes
  • School clinic for medical and health related requirements
  • Guidance Office for counseling and career related activities
  • Library for monitoring of library usage
  • Security and Prefect of Discipline for maintaining security and decorum inside the school
  • Student Affairs Office (SAO)/ Student Activity Program (SAP) office for the process of schools’ activities and for students’ attendance in activities
  • Institutional Research, Planning and Publication Office (IRPPO) for research and publication purposes
  • Finance office for the process of financial obligations
  • Scholarship office for the process of scholarship application
 
The personal data collected about the students may be shared, transferred or disclosed with the different persons, agencies, institutions or organizations outside the institution for the previously stated purposes.

Storage of Personal Data

All personal data are stored in the following manner:

  • The physical documents collected are stored in secured storage locations such as steel cabinets, lockers and rooms which can be opened only by authorized personnel.
  • All electronic version of personal data whether digitized or transcribed are stored in school’s Management Information System (MIS). Only authorized personnel are given the rights to access the data.
Disposal of Personal Data
All personal data of students are transferred to the Registrar’s Office upon acceptance and enrolment. Such data are stored by the school in
perpetuity as needed by general practices of school registrars.
 
All personal data of parents/legal guardians of enrolled students shall be retained for course of the duration of the school life of the student. Once the student graduates, such personal data shall be disposed of in a secure manner.
 
For applicants that were not accepted or did not enroll during admission, their personal data, and that of their parents/ guardians, shall be kept for a period of 1 year from application period so as to allow applicants to enroll at a later time if they decided to do so. Upon the lapse of the 1 year period, paper documents shall be shredded for secure disposal. Electronic records shall be deleted securely as well.
Basic Rights of the Data Subject

People whose personal information are collected, stored and processed are called data subjects. Under RA 10173, there are accorded certain rights which they may invoke and enforce against personal information controllers or processors, and which the latter are duty-bound to observe and respect.
 
  1. The right to be informed whether personal information pertaining to him/her shall be, are being or have been processed.
  2. The right to be furnished with the information before the entry of his/her personal information into the processing system of the personal information controller.
  3. The right to reasonable access to the data subjects’ information upon demand.
  4. The right to dispute the inaccuracy or error in the personal information and have the personal information controller correct it immediately and accordingly, unless the request is vexatious or otherwise unreasonable.
  5. The right to suspend, withdraw or order the blocking, removal or destruction of his/her personal information from the personal information controller’s filing system upon discovery and substantial proof that the personal information are incomplete, outdated, false, unlawfully obtained, used for unauthorized purposes or are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they are collected.
  6. The right to be indemnified for any damages sustained due to such inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, false, unlawfully obtained or unauthorized use of personal information.
  7. The right to data portability through the ability to obtain from the personal information controller a copy of data undergoing processing in an electronic or structured format, which is commonly used and allows for further use by the data subject.
  8. The right to lodge a complaint before the National Privacy Commission.
 
SBC recognizes the rights of its Data Subjects. Any data security concerns or breach that comes to the knowledge of SBC through formal complaints will be recorded, reported and addressed in accordance with the law.
 
From time to time, SBC may make changes to this policy. On such occasions, this will be disseminated through the schools’ website or other means of communication.
