
St. Bridget College hosted a two-day visit from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) accreditors. Held on May 5-6, 2025, the visit aimed to evaluate and ensure the quality of the college’s academic programs and institutional services as part of the institution’s bid to maintain its Level III re-accredited status for the college department.
The PAASCU team was led by Dr. Ronaldo Elicay from Ateneo de Naga University. The team included Mr. Wyndell Gaspan III from Divine Word College of Calapan, Dr. Kathleen Tiglao from San Beda College Alabang, Mr. Renato Dela Cruz from Miriam College, Ms. Pamela Tendero from San Beda University, Dr. Irene Acuña from Santa Isabel College of Manila, Ms. Maylene Mallari from Asia Pacific College, Dr. Beverly Fernandez from Saint Joseph College, Dr. Angelito Meneses from the University of the Philippines, Dr. Imelda Macaraig from St. Mary’s College, Ms. Cecilia Cabile from Philippine Women’s University, and the PAASCU representative, Ms. Alliah Palaje. They conducted a thorough assessment of the Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Physical Education, Technology and Livelihood Education, Business Administration, and Social Work programs.

The first day began with an orientation meeting followed by an opening and welcome session with the school administration, including Sr. Ma. Añanita Borbon, RGS, PhD, College President, members of the Executive Committee and college midlevel administrators. The accreditors then proceeded with class observations, ocular visits, and interviews with college president, college dean, program chairpersons, guidance counselors, Learning Resource Center chief librarian and staff, heads of science and computer laboratories, Campus Services and Student Affairs officer, Clinic personnel, Center for Formation and Praxis officer, Human Resource and Development Management officer, Quality Assurance officer, Registrar, Admission, Promotion and Aid marketing consultant, non-teaching personnel, Institutional Research Planning and Publications officer and staff, Institutional Technology and Management Services officer, Purok 5, Sitio Tramo, Barangay Calicanto community heads and beneficiaries, Student Affairs officer, and Finance officer.
The first day concluded with the team’s report on follow-up actions on previous survey recommendations.
The second day focused on further class observations and interviews. The accreditors engaged with the Alumni Affairs office and the college president. They also held meetings with students, including year level representatives, Daop Palad Student Council officers, scholars, and student leaders, as well as full-time and part-time faculty.
The visit concluded with a wrap-up meeting where the accreditors presented their preliminary findings and recommendations. Dr. Elicay summarized the commendations and recommendations, highlighting the positive and encouraging aspects. The initial feedback from the accreditors was promising, instilling a sense of optimism and motivation for continuous improvement throughout the entire college.
As Dr. Amor L. Borbon, College Dean, emphasized in her remarks during the closing program, she expressed gratitude for the encouraging and challenging feedback received. After months of preparations, the college is striving to do its best. Dr. Borbon believes that through PAASCU, the college can achieve the status of providing quality education, programs, and services. She highlighted that the college’s efforts are not solely for PAASCU but for all stakeholders who deserve the best. “Wholeheartedly, we will do our best, and your recommendations will serve as our guide to improve and excel. We have learned a lot from you,” she concluded.
The successful completion of the PAASCU visit marks a significant milestone for St. Bridget College, particularly for the College Department. This journey towards accreditation began in 2006, when the current college president was still serving as the college dean. The institution continues to prioritize high standards of academic excellence and is dedicated to creating a supportive and enriching environment for its students and other stakeholders.
