To raise awareness about school safety, cyberbullying prevention, and responsible digital citizenship, St. Bridget College, Inc. held a campus-wide advocacy seminar on “Armed Violence in Schools and Cyberbullying” on September 5, 2026, at the Manuela Q. Pastor Auditorium.
The program opened with a prayer led by Mrs. Lea B. Abacan, Basic Education Department Principal, followed by remarks from Dr. Bernadette I. Manalo, College President, who emphasized the role of education in student formation and safety.
PMsg. Lachica discussed school security and online risks, citing information from the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group on cyber offenses in CALABARZON. She also warned parents that children may face online risks even while at home, particularly through unsupervised device use.
During the question-and-answer session, participants raised concerns about digital monitoring, cyber threats, and measures that families can take to ensure online safety. The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration among schools, parents, and students in addressing emerging digital risks.
Meanwhile, school administrators announced plans to add metal detectors and walk-through scanners to existing security measures, including bag inspections and X-ray systems.
The discussion also emphasized that school security measures cannot address risks that occur through private devices and online platforms. PMsg. Lachica encouraged parents to take an active role in monitoring their children’s online activities and maintaining open communication.
The seminar concluded with remarks from Mrs. Julieta D. Macalalad, Campus Services and Student Activity Officer. The program was facilitated by Mr. Ryan T. Gamboa and Ms. Jhoanna Marie B. Vergara.
