In a triumphant display of journalistic excellence, SIBUL, Official Publication of St. Bridget College, College Department, bagged awards in the Regional Higher Education Press Conference, securing seven individual awards, three group awards, and two Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) Qualifiers, held at Batis Aramin Hotel and Resort, Lucban, Quezon, from February 20 to 22.

RHEPC 2024, a cornerstone event in the region’s academic calendar, accumulated a total of 491 journalists from 32 colleges and universities in REGION IV-A, transforming the event into a gathering and battle of creativity and talents.

Individual accolades were rightfully bestowed upon several outstanding journalists.

In the Filipino category, Jimmvell C. Castillo from BEED 3 clinched 4th place in Development Communication Writing, 6th place in Editorial Writing, and a participant in poetry writing; Jenny D. Panganiban from BSED-Eng 3 secured 2nd place in Column Writing and a participant in Sports Writing and Feature Writing.

Meanwhile, in the English category, Janelle G. Aguila from BSED-Eng 4 obtained 8th place in Editorial Writing, 9th place in Copy Reading and Headline Writing and a participant in Development Communication Writing; Marbelyn L. Barbosa from BSED-Eng 3 also exhibited remarkable prowess as she garnered a 6th place in Sport Writing, 9th Place in Feature Writing, and as a participant in Poetry Writing; Czejan C. Punzalan from BSED-Eng 2 showcased exemplary skills as a participant in photojournalism, column writing, and news writing.

Furthermore, SIBUL clinched group awards for its outstanding Tabloid paper. SIBUL grabbed 8th place for Development Communication Page, 8th place in Best Feature-Literary Page, and 6th place in Best Page Design.

Top five winners of the individual categories will represent the CALABARZON (Region IV-A) in the upcoming Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) that will be held at Naga City, Bicol this March 19-21. SIBUL produces two LHEPC qualifiers under the Filipino category, namely Jimmvell C. Castillo and Jenny D. Panganiban.

These remarkable achievements were a testament to the dedication and talent of the SIBUL team, under the guidance of their coach, Mrs. Kristine P. Jabat, SIBUL Moderator, and the support of Sr. Ma. Añanita Borbon, RGS, Ph.D., College President, Dr. Amor L. Borbon, College Dean, as well as the College faculty, staff, and all the Bridgetines.
