St. Bridget College Batangas emerged as the Overall Champion in SciMatica 2026: The Olympiad of SciMath Excellence, held virtually via Zoom on September 20.
Organized by the International Association of Science and Mathematics Professionals and Researchers Inc. (IASMPR Inc.), in partnership with various educational institutions, the competition gathered learners, educators, researchers, and science and mathematics enthusiasts under the theme, “Advancing Frontiers of Science and Mathematics through Innovation, Inquiry, and Excellence.”
Leading the institution’s winning campaign was Shaugn Hendrix A. Aranas, who secured first place in the Poster Making Competition through a creative visual interpretation of the event theme. The poster highlighted the role of science and mathematics in fostering innovation, inquiry, and academic excellence.
Meanwhile, Aleah Mei D. Arañez captured first place in the Digital Content Competition with her entry, Ants Solve Math Problems, which demonstrated how studying ant behavior can advance mathematics and innovation. The presentation emphasized how nature has long provided solutions to optimization problems even before the advent of modern computing.
The team composed of Gian Mark M. Castillo, Iresh R. Romo, and Tiffany Joy D.R. Valero earned second place in the Digital Instructional Material Competition for their entry, Volcano Explorer.
Developed using the interactive platform Genially, the material transformed the study of volcanic structures into an engaging digital learning experience for Grade 9 Science students through interactive hotspots, informational content, and assessment activities.
The combined achievements of the Bridgetine delegates propelled the institution to the Overall Championship title, showcasing the students’ creativity, innovation, and excellence in science and mathematics-related disciplines.
The achievement adds another milestone to the institution’s growing list of academic accomplishments and underscores its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and research.
The award-winning delegates are all third-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Science students who were coached by Mrs. Kristine P. Jabat, College Faculty, and Dr. Aida A. Sanohan, Education Program Chairperson, with support from Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, Head of the Institutional Research, Planning and Publications Office (IRPPO), and Dr. Annalie D. Pateña, College Dean.
