The recently concluded Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) IV-A 16th Annual Seminar and Quiz Bee for pre-service teachers with its theme, “Future Ready Educators: Harnessing AI for Learning Excellence”, held in Batangas City Sport Coliseum brought together 54 colleges and universities from the CALABARZON region, Nov. 22.

The event, hosted by St. Bridget College Batangas, aimed to inspire learners and empower educators through discussions on the latest advancements in education, particularly the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and foster a spirit of healthy competition and intellectual growth among students through professional education quiz bee.

Dr. Aris E. Ignacio, Dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering at Southville International School and Colleges, delivered a lecture on maximizing AI in education. He discussed the benefits of AI, such as personalized learning and enhanced collaboration, while also addressing challenges like ethical concerns and the digital divide.

The event also featured a keynote address by Dr. Freddie B. Bulauan, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Director Regional IV-A, CHED Regional Office IV-A. Dr. Bulauan highlighted the transformative potential of AI in education, urging educators to embrace technology while maintaining ethical standards and fostering critical thinking among students.

The event was a testament to the brilliance and passion of aspiring future educators as they showcased their knowledge and teamwork. Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation-Lucena emerged as champions, clinching the first place in the Quiz Bee Competition. Sta. Teresa College earned a well-deserved second place, while Southern Luzon State University-Lucban proudly rounded out the winners by securing the third place. The day was filled with learning, camaraderie, and celebration, shining a spotlight on the future leaders of education.

Dr. Mary Ann E. Antenor, representing Hon. Mayor Beverley Rose A. Dimacuha, welcomed the participants with the local mantra, “Eto Batangueno, Disiplinado, Magkatuwang Tayo!” She emphasized the importance of investing in education and uplifting the teaching profession.

Dr. Amor L. Borbon, Chairman of PAFTE IV-A, articulated the event’s mission of preparing future educators to lead with excellence in a rapidly evolving landscape. Complementing this, Dr. Ronald A. Gonzales, Vice Chairman of PAFTE IV-A, encouraged participants in his message to remain resilient and innovative in their teaching journeys.

Adding to the vibrance of the event was the theme crafted by the hosts, Dr. Imelda B. Vergara and Mr. John Jeffry M. Mendoza,  “ALA EH!”—an acronym for Acquiring New Friends, Learning New Concepts, Active Engagement, Enhancement of Competencies, and Healthy Competitions. This theme perfectly encapsulated the essence of the day, emphasizing camaraderie, growth, and excellence among participants.
