In a joyful and lively celebration coinciding with the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Mary, completers and graduating students from the Basic Education Department gathered for a Baccalaureate Mass of thanksgiving, blessing, and send-off at the SBC Manuela Q. Pastor Auditorium, St. Bridget College, Batangas City, March 25, 2026.

Presided over by Rev. Msgr. Alfredo Madlangbayan, the liturgy drew RGS sisters, students, administrators, faculty, and staff into a spirited atmosphere of gratitude and prayer as BED students Batch 2026 prepared to carry their light into the world.

In his homily, Msgr. Madlangbayan emphasized the power and significance of saying “Yes,” as modeled by the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Annunciation.

He encouraged the students to see their academic years not merely as accomplishments but as a faithful response to God’s call that opens them to service, sacrifice, and communal discernment.

Highlighting the words “Behold the handmaid of the Lord,” he pointed out how a single, faithful “Yes” can alter lives and communities.

Drawing a parallel between Mary’s acceptance and the graduates’ own commitment to education, he said that in choosing to learn and grow, they too have said “Yes” to a life of responsibility and mission.

Msgr. Madlangbayan framed commitment within the Mass’s theme and urged graduating students to carry the light they received and to walk together listening, supporting, and discerning.

The presider emphasized the Scripture as a guide for life and reminded the attendees that God’s word is a lighted lamp for each step as they continue on their journey.

Moreover, he reflected on Christ’s readiness to do the Father’s will and called on students to emulate that obedience by offering their talents and daily choices for the glory of God.

Practical examples were presented including being productive at home, faithful in ordinary responsibilities, and striving for holiness by remaining united with God and attentive to His will.

The Mass took on an especially warm tone as Msgr. Madlangbayan shared personal moments from his priestly journey and acknowledged fellow clergy who have accompanied him through his seniorate.

Their presence underscored the communal nature of vocation and service, and this reminded students that formation is sustained by relationships of mentorship, prayer, and mutual support.

Another highlight of the celebration was the blessing of diplomas and medals, a tangible moment of commissioning as graduates received prayers and blessings for their next steps.

As the Mass concluded, Msgr. Madlangbayan urged the graduates to carry the light of their education into homes and communities, offer all for the glory of God, and let a faithful “Yes” witness to the Gospel as they walk together into the wider world.
