Ignite passion for research and discovery!

In an enriching celebration of intellect and creativity, St. Bridget College sparked commitment for research and innovation as Bridgetine faculty participated in the Faculty Research Forum at the Mary Dominica Function Hall, SBC Batangas City, April 11, 2025.

With the theme, “Engage minds. Ignite passion. Foster innovation.,” the whole-day event aimed to promote a dynamic research culture in the institution, enhance faculty skills, ignite enthusiasm for research, and strengthen core values in the research process.

Reflecting dedication to the advancement of knowledge, the forum featured an array of presentations, including four individual studies, five group research projects, and five graduate research endeavors.

Among the individual and pair research presentations were studies such as “Institution and Faculty Performance in the Research Phases: Basis for Research Capability Building Program and Determinants of Enrolment Trend: Input to Promotion and Marketing Intervention in St. Bridget College, College Department, Batangas City ” by Dr. Imelda B. Vergara; and “Tracer Study of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Students Batch 2018-2024” by Mr. Marvin T. Agusto.

Additionally, Mrs. Rosalie C. Albestor presented the BS Social Work Tracer Study covering the academic years 2015 to 2024.

The group research segment featured important topics such as “Disaster Risk Awareness and Management of Calicanto Community,” presented by Mrs. Kristine P. Jabat, Mr. Gilbert M. Manalo, Mr. John Jeffry M. Mendoza, and Mrs. Eugenia Marites D. Quinio; and “College Readiness of ALS Students in Batangas City” by Dr. Amor L. Borbon, Mrs. Fe S. Babao, Ms. Jewel Angelica A. Lavapie, and Engr. Leonardo B. Pedraja.

Other significant studies included “Implementation of Safeguarding Principles and Policies: Perspective for Policy Enhancement Strategies” by Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, Mrs. Maria Grace D. Andal, and Mr. Ace Zheridan Gutierrez; and a collaborative effort on “Understanding the Mental Health and Wellness of Teachers” involving Dr. Aida A. Sanohan, Mrs. Maria Grace D. Contreras, Mr. Marvin T. Agusto, and Ms. Lalaine C. Ramirez.

Furthermore, the study titled “Beyond the Classroom: Motivations and Challenges of HUMSS Students in Extra-Curricular Activity Engagement” of the Senior High School HUMSS faculty was presented by Ms. Jazel Paula Blanco, Ms. Jade Kathleen Dolor, Ms. Angelou Perez, and Ms. Jhoanna Marie B. Vergara.         

Highlighting the institution’s commitment to innovation, three research studies developed by the Basic Education researchers, College faculty researchers, and as well as Institutional Research and Planning Office (IRPPO) were also featured.

These included Needs Analysis of the Residents of Barangay Calicanto, Batangas City: Basis of Community Outreach Program of SBC College Department presented by College faculty researchers, Mrs. Kristine P. Jabat and Mr. Marvin T. Agusto; Parental Preferences in Choosing Private Schools for Children: A Tool for Enhancing School Promotion and Marketing Strategies of St. Bridget College, Batangas City presented by Mrs. Janice Pevidal;  and Faculty Development Needs Assessment: Basis for Faculty Development Program of St. Bridget College, Batangas City presented by Dr. Imelda Vergara.

The graduate research presentations included innovative studies such as “Revitalizing Spiritual Exercises in Religious and Values Education Among Senior High School Learners” by Mr. Isidro C. Pelingon, and “Enhancing Skills in Conducting Science Investigatory Projects” by Mr. Paul Vincent M. Ilagan. Other notable topics included “Enhancing the Language Proficiency of Grade 10 Students Through Digital Media” by Ms. Gengky S. De Castro; Enhancing Proficiency in Araling Panlipunan through Filipino as Medium of Instruction among Grade 10 Students in St. Bridget College” by Mrs. Sheryl I. Garcia, and “Self-assessment in Science Education: A Study of Student Reflection and Learning among First Year College Students at St. Bridget College” by Ms. Jewel Angelica A. Lavapie.

The event’s keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Sanchez, founder and president of ETCOR Educational Research Center, Inc., captivated the audience with his insights into the vital role of research in shaping educational practices.

His engaging feedback on the presented studies also sparked lively discussions, leaving attendees inspired and motivated to continue producing research output and further enhancing their craft in the field.

Moreover, he suggested the involvement of institutional offices such as the Human Resource Management and Development Office in conducting research for a more balanced point of view  and also the empowerment of more faculty to engage in research through serving as internal peer reviewer.

Paving the way for future collaborative initiatives, the event also celebrated a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on research partnership between St. Bridget College, Inc. and ETCOR Educational Research Center, Inc.

As part of the program, Ms. Gayle Ann Guerra, Human Resource Development and Management Officer, warmly welcomed and wished all the participants a meaningful and fruitful event.

On the other hand, Dr. Imelda Vergara, Institutional Research, Planning and Publications Officer, closed the forum with a rallying call for the participants to continue embracing the culture of research.

Presenting the results of the study, “Mapping Research Priorities: Alignment between Institutional Research Agenda and Research Studies of St. Bridget College”, she invited the faculty to address the gap in the research agenda particularly in the area of school culture and environment as well as health, safety, and wellness.

The Faculty Research Forum was conducted not only to highlight the scholarly achievements of St. Bridget College’s faculty but also to reinforce the institution’s commitment to foster a research-driven academic community.

The event was organized by the Institutional Research, Planning and Publications Office, headed by Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, with the assistance of the members of the Institutional Research Committee, Mrs. Filipina Macaraeg, Mrs. Kristine Jabat, Mrs. Lea Abacan, Ms. Claire Veronica Aquino, and Ms. Andrea Kalalo.

Ms. Ahngel Javier, Basic Education faculty, served as master of ceremony in the said research forum.
