In celebration of the Literacy Month 2026, Junior High School Department conducted the Literacy Camp 2026: Amazing Race Edition on September 8–9, 2026.
With the theme “Amazing Race Edition: Read, Think, Race – Every Subject has Place!”, the Literacy Camp went beyond English and Filipino, as the nine subject areas collaborated to create a cross-curricular literacy adventure for Grades 7–10.
Junior High School classrooms, science laboratories, and kitchen laboratories served as stations, where students completed various subject-based tasks as they progressed through the Amazing Race.
The activity featured various challenges that developed students’ skills in problem-solving, reading, interpreting, calculating, communicating, collaborating, and decision-making.
The two-day event was divided by grade level, with Grades 9 and 10 conquering their challenges on September 8, followed by Grades 7 and 8 on September 9.
During the activity, each section was divided into four groups tasked to complete subject-specific challenges at different stations within an allotted time. Teams that completed a station within one to two minutes earned the maximum score of 20 points, while the points decreased as completion time increased. Each station also recognized the fastest team with a token of recognition.
To proceed to the next station, teams had to correctly complete the assigned academic challenge. The group that earned the highest total score while recording the fastest completion times across the stations was declared the overall winner.
“One of the challenges our team encountered was answering the questions quickly. We overcame this challenge by staying calm and steady while making sure that our answers were correct,” said Celine Cadevida of Grade 10 Justice. She added that helping one another and recognizing each member’s strengths contributed to their success.
Meanwhile, Marchella Christane Villanueva of Grade 10 Generosity shared that beyond academics, the Literacy Camp taught them the importance of collaboration in accomplishing each task.
