With the theme “Bridge-tines United: Breaking Barriers, Unveiling New Horizons,” the Religious of the Good Shepherd united the three Bridget schools (Alitagtag, Batangas City, and Quezon City) at the Manuela Q. Pastor Auditorium and Covered Court of SBC Batangas City on October 11.

Grade 12 representatives Karylle Angela Aguila from SBC Batangas and Charlene Anne Aynera from SBC Quezon City led the event preparations, fostering camaraderie among Bridgetines while raising awareness for the International Day of the Girl Child.

“Cha and I have been working together ever since IDG started, and I’m very comfortable working with her since we’ve met several times in online meetings,” expressed Karylle Aguila, ABM President and Girl Child Advocate.

The event began with an opening prayer led by Elmira Mutuc from SBS Quezon City, followed by the National Anthem, with music from the Institutional Culture and Arts Program (ICAP).

To strengthen student connections, colored bands were distributed during registration and later used in a “Getting to Know” activity where participants searched for their matching group.

Sr. Ma. Añanita Borbon, college president, delivered opening remarks, acknowledging the participating schools and asking, “What makes you different as Bridgetines?”

Girl advocates Karylle Aguila and Charlene Aynera shared their experiences organizing international and school-based events for the International Day of the Girl Child.

“I never imagined meeting another Bridgetine from a different school, and I’m amazed by our similarities,” said Karylle Aguila.

Ms. Sashi Natarajan, a teacher from India and IDG facilitator, delivered an inspirational message, reminding Bridgetines of their self-worth.

A forum featuring two speakers followed: Dr. Kate Concepcion, who discussed barriers faced by girls, and Ms. Ma. Gloria Isabelle Pechay, who shared lessons she wished she had known in her youth.

“Education is the key to unlocking limitless possibilities,” emphasized Dr. Concepcion.

“Don’t be afraid to be different; you are limitless, pray and manifest,” encouraged Ms. Isabelle Pechay.

The second segment featured a talent show, with performances from PAO-ICAP, PAO-RB, SBS Quezon City’s ATROMITOS dance troupe, and SBC Alitagtag’s INARA dance and vocal group.

While waiting for the talent show participants, raffle prizes were awarded through a “wheel of names” to lucky Bridgetines.

The morning event concluded with a surprise message from Senator Risa Hontiveros, who encouraged Bridgetines to use their platform for addressing community issues, followed by the singing of the SBC Hymn.

In the afternoon, the session moved to the covered court, where Grade 12 students from SBC Batangas, SBC Alitagtag, and SBS Quezon City participated in a ball game.

“This experience gave me a sense of connection, even though we come from different schools; our hearts and spirits beat as one,” said Keith Plata, STEM President and Event Facilitator.

After the ball game, a turnover ceremony began, led by Ms. Aira Christina U. Zafra of SBC Alitagtag and SBC Batangas Principal Ms. Bernadette I. Manalo.

The ceremonial passing of the lamp, symbolizing hope, was conducted by Sr. Anya Borbon to SBS Quezon City Principal Ms. Katrina Mananzan.

“As we pass this lamp, it symbolizes the light of hope, strength, and empowerment for every girl child,” remarked Sr. Anya Borbon.

Mace Joice Gutierrez and Christiana Concepcion Clemente emceed the morning event, while Sheena Bernadette Cadunggan and Keith Isaiah Plata hosted the afternoon session.

“Although it was a challenging job, we trusted each other and made this event successful and memorable,” reflected Bernadette Cadunggan, HUMSS President and Event Facilitator.
