“Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will arise, says the Lord.”
Echoing the powerful message from Psalm 12:5A, this proclamation of St. Bridget College, Inc. and the Religious of the Good Shepherd set the stage for a Prayer Rally against Corruption, coinciding with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, Oct. 7, 2025.
Uniting the community in a common cause, the event brought together various schools, clergy, civic organizations, and religious groups from across Batangas City. The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception joined as a partner in this initiative, further strengthening the collective commitment to address corruption.
The rally commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration held at the SBC Gymnasium, presided over by Rev. Fr. Angel Marcelo Pastor. In his homily, Fr. Pastor emphasized the critical need for integrity and active involvement in societal issues, encouraging participants to heed the call to action reflected in the day’s scripture.

After the mass, participants joined the Performing Arts Office (PAO) performers in a stirring rendition of “Ang Bayan Ko,” a heartfelt anthem that resonated with themes of unity and national pride.
Following the mass, around 2,000 participants took to the streets for the Prayer Rally, praying the holy rosary as they marched through Batangas City. The atmosphere was filled with a spirit of solidarity as community members raised their voices in prayer and reflection, which embodied their faith in the fight against corruption.
The event culminated in a noise barrage at the gates of St. Bridget College and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, where participants amplified their message and advocacy for transparency in governance. The sound of chants, songs, and prayers echoed through the streets, drawing attention to the pressing need for change.

In her message, Ma. Añanita Borbon, RGS, PhD, SBC president, called the event a vital call to action, urging everyone to become actively involved in addressing corruption. She emphasized the importance of individual commitment, noting that each person’s effort contributes to a larger movement for justice. “Together,” she said, “we can forge a future rooted in integrity and accountability.”
As the organizer of the activity, St. Bridget College, through the Center for Formation and Praxis Office, headed by Mrs. Ma. Socorro Lalap, worked in close collaboration with other committees from the institution to ensure the smooth organization of the activity.
