Aiming to shape and refine research priorities, the Basic Education (BED) faculty gathered for a purpose-driven Research Agenda Articulation event at the BED Collaboratorium of St. Bridget College, Batangas on September 4, 2025.
Facilitated by Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, Institutional Research, Planning and Publications Officer, the session carried the theme “Research Agenda Articulation: Aligning Vision with Action,” emphasizing the importance of developing research that is both meaningful and strategically aligned with the institutional goals.
The program commenced with a Researchers’ Prayer led by Dr. Vergara, followed by an engaging activity that assessed participants’ current knowledge and interest in research, setting an interactive and collaborative tone for the day.

Dr. Vergara outlined the event’s objectives and emphasized the crucial role of the research agenda in aligning faculty efforts with the strategic vision of St. Bridget College.
She highlighted how the agenda fosters participation across faculty, departments, and external partners, driving innovation, addressing societal challenges, and filling critical knowledge gaps. These efforts ultimately enhance the institution’s reputation and contribute to the advancement of academic and community knowledge.
Updates on the new Institutional Research Agenda (IRA) for 2025–2028 were then presented, including revisions to key focus areas based on previous research agenda and emerging institutional priorities.
The presentation sparked lively discussions, with faculty members sharing research ideas drawn from everyday experiences within the school community—ranging from student difficulties with spelling, to flooding issues, and concerns regarding teacher turnover rates.

Following this, Dr. Vergara introduced the design and procedural steps of the Research Agenda Plan, which is required for conducting research projects.
To encourage focused collaboration, participants were grouped according to the grade levels they teach, enabling them to develop research topics directly aligned with the Institutional Research Agenda’s priority areas.
While many participants found the hands-on work challenging, they also found it motivating, especially with Dr. Vergara’s commitment to provide continuous guidance throughout their research journey.
With the active engagement of the participants, the Research Agenda Articulation proved to be a powerful platform for unity and dynamic involvement, transforming diverse perspectives into ideas, creating a strong foundation for innovative and meaningful research topics.
As Dr. Vergara reminded everyone with the inspiring quote, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,” the event clearly demonstrated how a shared vision can ignite meaningful change.
