Nine Bridgetine educators showcased their dedication and expertise among over 180 participants at the 2025 Annual Teachers and Educators Convention (ATEC) and Research Colloquium held at Philippine Christian University, DasmariƱas City, Cavite, March 27-28, 2025.

The convention, organized by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Region IV-A, headed by Dr. Amor L. Borbon, PAFTE Chair and the Dean of St. Bridget College (SBC), College Department, revolved around the theme, “AI in Education and Research Paving the Way for Innovative Learning and Discovery.”

Displaying their innovative approaches and insightful contributions, four Bridgetine faculty members shared their impactful group research at the Research Colloquium, making the event memorable and highlighting the bright future of education.

Mrs. Eugenia Marites D. Quinio, General Education Program Chairperson, presented their study titled “Disaster Risk Management and Preparedness of Calicanto Community”, co-authored by Mrs. Kristine P. Jabat, Mr. Gilbert M. Manalo and Mr. John Jeffry M. Mendoza. She highlighted that their proposed program had already been presented to the Batangas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), which assured them that their efforts would not be in vain, as the program aligns closely with the city’s existing plans.

Another Bridgetine presenter was Dr. Aida A. Sanohan, who shared the findings of their study titled “Understanding the Mental Health and Wellness of Teachers.”, co-authored by Mrs. Maria Grace D. Contreras, Mr. Marvin T. Agusto, and Ms. Lalaine C. Ramirez. She discussed proposed solutions to address these critical issues, emphasizing the need for supportive measures and strategies to enhance the well-being of educators.

Mrs. Maria Grace D. Andal presented their group research titled “Implementation of Safeguarding Principles and Policies in St. Bridget College: Perspective for Policy Enhancement Strategies”, co-authored by Mr. Ace Zheridan Gutierrez and Dr. Imelda B. Vergara. Her presentation focused on SBC’s safeguarding policy and suggested ways to ensure faculty members are knowledgeable and actively involved in the policy’s implementation, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and supportive educational environment.

Lastly, Mrs. Fe S. Babao shared information regarding the readiness of Alternative Learning System (ALS) graduates for higher education in her presentation titled “College Readiness of ALS Students in Batangas City”, co-authored by Dr. Amor Borbon, Ms. Jewel Angelica A. Lavapie, and Engr. Leonardo B. Pedraja. She provided valuable insights into the challenges and successes of ALS program in preparing students for further academic pursuits.

The two-day convention also featured three plenary sessions led by distinguished speakers in the field of education. Dr. Levi E. Elipane delivered an insightful talk on preparing educators and researchers for the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Dr. NiƱo D. Naldoza discussed balancing the use of AI and ethics in academic research, while Dr. Ronald A. Gonzales provided updates on the Teacher Education Program from the Commission on Higher Education and EdCom.

A panel discussion on best practices in AI used by different Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) recognized as Centers of Excellence was also conducted. It featured Dr. Edward E. Babasa of the University of Batangas, Dr. Leonardo B. Dorado of Adventist University of the Philippines, and Dr. Jose Arvin I. Gacelo of De La Salle – DasmariƱas Cavite. The discussants shared the challenges their institutions face regarding AI in academics and how they address these issues.

Other Bridgetine educators who attended the convention included Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, Education Program Chairperson, who led the second day’s wellness activity, Mr. Gilbert M. Manalo, Mrs. Kristine P. Jabat, Ms. Lalaine C. Ramirez, and Ms. Jewel Angelica A. Lavapie. SBC was among the 43 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) present, underscoring its commitment to enhancing the quality of education it provides.
