“The NEW SBC provides a SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM that gives various opportunities for the students to achieve their full potentials in sports and athletics to create positive impact on themselves, the school, and the wider community.”
This statement captures the identity of the Sports Development Program of St. Bridget College formulated in the Sports Development Planning Session held at Phoenix Hotel, Quezon Avenue, Manila, July 9-10, 2024.
Seventeen members of Sports Development Committee composed of administrators and faculty from the departments/offices attended the said two-day event.
With SBC College President, Sr. Ma. Añanita Borbon, RGS, PhD, session facilitator, they formulated a three-year program which features activities on key result areas such as management and leadership, programs and activities, training and development, facilities and resources, as well as recruitment and promotion.
Sr. Anya also shared significant points on the components of the identity and how this identity can be proclaimed to the public.
The planning process involved the review of the key points on the evaluation of Sports Development Program which Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, Institutional Research, Planning, and Publications (IRPP) Officer, presented based on the session held on November 20, 2023.
Dr. Vergara also presented the findings of the research of IRPP Office on the evaluation of the sports development program. These findings were considered in the formulation of the specific plan.
Divided into groups, the participants formulated three-year program and presented the contents and details in the plenary for feedback and suggestions.
Meanwhile, as part of the rebranding process of the sports program, the institution thru the Institutional Research, Planning and Publications Office (IRPPO) conducted sports team name and logo design competition, July 22, 2024.
Jed Bisa, BSIT student, won with his team name, Shepherd Brave Conquerors and logo featuring significant design elements such as lamb, shepherd’s crook, clover leaf, shield, and gate.
Seven student representatives from the departments also joined the competition.
With the support of the administration and the entire Bridgetine community, the new institutional sports program coordinator, Mr. Fernando Cultura, together with the members of the sports committee, envisions effective implementation of the program in the institution.
