With the theme “Leading with Purpose: Servant Leadership in the Digital Transformation,” St. Bridget College, College Department, conducted a day-long leadership training and seminar held at Rooms 103-104 of the SJE Building, September 11.
The event aimed to equip student leaders with the knowledge and skills to lead effectively in a digitally driven era while emphasizing the principles of servant leadership.
The program commenced with a warm welcome from the College Dean, Dr. Amor L. Borbon.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Borbon reminded the participants of their essential roles as student leaders: representing the student body and organizing programs that address their needs. She encouraged them to embrace inclusivity, innovation, and responsiveness in their leadership journey.
Ms. Fatima Aclan, a teacher, radio personality from 99.1 Spirit FM, and active church servant, served as the guest speaker.
Drawing from her diverse experiences, Ms. Aclan highlighted the importance of participative and transformational leadership. She inspired the attendees with her message: “Leadership isn’t just about the position you hold; it’s about what you can bring to the table.”
Moreover, her talk showcased the traits of an effective leader, emphasizing the need to lead and empower others while remaining a role model and motivator.
Interactive activities kept the participants engaged throughout the day. These included a “This or That” icebreaker, discussions on the ten principles of servant leadership, and a creative exercise where clubs presented their “Leadership Pizza,” showcasing essential leadership traits. These activities emphasized listening, empathy, and building community as foundational aspects of servant leadership.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, the focus shifted to strategic planning, led by Dr. Imelda B. Vergara, Institutional Research Planning and Publication Officer and Education Program Chairperson.
Participants worked on crafting actionable plans for their respective clubs, guided by principles such as goal clarity, collaboration, and effective time management.
Furthermore, Dr. Vergara emphasized the importance of inclusivity and innovation in leadership activities, encouraging the student leaders to implement engaging and responsive programs.
The participants were also reminded of the importance of fostering a collaborative and respectful environment. They were urged to balance the rapid pace of technological advancements with ethical decision-making, while also prioritizing strong interpersonal relationships. The message reinforced the need to ensure that technological progress aligns with values of respect, responsibility, and human connection.
The session concluded with the presentation of action plans, during which each group outlined their goals, strategies, and timelines for the upcoming academic year.
The said leadership training reaffirmed St. Bridget College’s commitment to developing servant leaders who place service above position and lead with purpose in an ever-evolving world.
